3 (More) Reasons Universal Orlando Rocks

This week's posts have been devoted to reasons why Universal Orlando rocks. We just got back from a 6 night trip a few days ago, and I was so impressed with the whole experience. Today, I'm sharing 3 more reasons why Universal Orlando rocks for everyone.

  1. Good food. Most theme park dining experiences leave us hungry, feeling sick, unsatisfied, and pretty light in the wallet. Universal Orlando offers generous portions of real food that tastes good, doesn't feel like it's going to kill you, and is reasonably priced. During our trip, I kept remarking on how they used real chicken, as opposed to the processed, pressed poultry product we find at other parks. There is a nice variety of options in each park and most of it seemed relatively healthy. Exceptions that come to mind are the donut from Voodoo Doughnuts, pictured above, and a corn dog we got in the Simpsons land, but we kind of brought those on ourselves.
  2. No advance dining reservations required. To continue on the food theme, there are only two restaurants in the Universal Studios Florida (USF) and Islands of Adventure (IOA) theme parks that accept reservations, as far as I'm aware. They are Lombard Seafood Grille at USF and Mythos Restaurant at IOA. This really cuts down on the stress of planning your every move, scrambling for reservations, and making sure you leave whatever you're doing to get to the restaurant on time. We decided we wanted to try the popular Mythos Restaurant at IOA during one of the busiest weeks of the year, showed up at noon, and got a table within 5-10 minutes even though they originally estimated a 25 minute wait. Even at City Walk, we never had trouble getting seated ... although, we do tend to eat early.
  3. It's comfortable. Something I noticed throughout the parks were the fans everywhere you turned. Even when it was warm out, this created a pleasant breeze, I think in part because there seemed to be water misters attached to the front of them. It reminded me of being in Rome, where it felt cool and comfortable in summer because of the ever present breeze. There was also seating and shade almost everywhere we went in the parks, so you could always rest your feet if you needed. Finally, we were always within a quick walking distance of a restroom and water fountain, which are key for staying hydrated and easy potty breaks for 5 year olds.
That's all that comes to mind for now, but as I look through our pictures, I might come up with more. I do have 3 more reasons why Universal Orlando rocks for 5 year olds and will share those tomorrow. In the meantime, check out my other posts on why Universal Orlando rocks, linked below.
